Friday News Roundup

MOZILLA MOZILLA MOZILLA

Found a lot of interesting stuff at surf mind musings:

  • Blozom is "a stand alone Mozilla based publishing system. It uses flat files, both content and xml metadata, and renders HTML and RSS." (Screenshots 1, 2)
  • Junkie "provides a list of recently updated weblogs [in a Mozilla sidebar] that are in your history and/or bookmarks, via weblogs.com/changes.xml. It is a component of Blozom but is being released as a standalone." Very cool.
  • The Hive and InstOut Renderer is a OMPL renderer for the Mozilla sidebar (or IE searchbar) using DOM/DHTML
  • Feedstering Mozilla - setting up a keyword shortcut for Feedster RSS search. At David Davies: What RSS search engines are good for (for news faster than Google indexing)

WEB BUILDING

  • I pointed there before, but still have to try this out: xSiteable is "a compiler of websites, based on a XSLT parser to do the hard work and using Topic maps for magic and marvels." A XML file is used to control the site structure, and pages are written through a simple textual notation language. A screenshot or two wouldn't have harmed though. can be found in the documentation.

IN OTHER NEWS

  • According to Rebecca Blood it is legal for Fox Television to force its employees to lie or to distort news on a television broadcast, and a Florida Appeals court says it is okay to fire those employees that refuse to do so because of insubordination. Just hear the words: Fox Television, Florida courts.
