Whichever closed down steel mill I visit, labor union stickers like this one are a constant companion. Wherever they appeared, they marked the final chapter, and now they are silent witnesses of lost battles. They follow a specific pattern: a stylized silhouette of machinery unique to the plant in question or of the city's skyline featuring characteristic elements of the mill, plus a slogan along the lines of "Dies the mill, dies the city". Dortmund, Siegen, Hagen, Hattingen, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Hohenlimburg, Duisburg, Völklingen, Bremen, or, as shown here, Sulzbach-Rosenberg.
