Blashphemy, today: Thou shalt not bear false witness against the Lord
To show who really is in power these days, the RIAA ordered US Navy to surrender and had Navy officials to confiscate 100 computers suspected to contain MP3 files - from US Naval Academy cadets, who might now face career-ending "honor offense" charges. Confusing national laws, power and hysteria with international laws, power and hysteria, RIAA now demands critical online press coverage of this operation to be taken down - from U.K. based The Register: "Your rewriting of The Capital's story [the original newspaper coverage] was a complete fabrication. I demand a retraction and I demand the story be taken down immediately." Lession I: Thou shalt not bear any critical witness against the Lord's actions, no matter where you are.
Lesson II: Thou shalt not poke fun at the Lord unless you ask for permission first. "A British advertising watchdog said Wednesday it was banning a commercial for an animated comedy series because it pokes fun at President Bush. The Broadcast Advertising Clearance Center said the ad, which depicts a cartoon Bush inserting a DVD into a toaster, could only be shown if the makers sought the president's permission first. [...] The offending ad shows Bush opening [a] video and saying, 'My favorite: just pop it in the video player.' He then sticks it into a toaster and burns it." Amen.
