Concorde F-BVFB, decommissioned by Air France and donated to the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim, safely arrived in its new home on July 20. After its final landing in Baden Airpark, it has been knocked down, trucked to Söllingen, shipped down the Rhine to Speyer, and trucked on the Autobahn A6 to Sinsheim (tour map) where it will be displayed right next to its "Soviet Sister", the Tupolev TU 144 (photo composition). Shipping and trucking alone took nearly three days.
F-BVFB left Paris Charles de Gaulle on June 24 at 10:45. Flight Captain Jean-Louis Chatelain, First Officer Robert Vacchiani and Flight Engineer Remy Pivet performed a supersonic loop over the Atlantic Ocean and finally landed their vehicle at Baden Airpark around 12:45. It carries serial number 7 and entererd Air France service April 8, 1976, where it performed 5,473 flights in 14,771 operational hours. In September 1988, it was engaged in a record round-the-world-flight, covering 47,572 km in 38 hours and 13 minutes.
The (absurdly poor) Auto & Technik Museum website features a special Concorde section that has all details and above photos in full size versions.
