SOME FACTS
- I smoked my last cigarette 0500 the morning of Saturday, September 06, 2003
- I did not have to force myself quiting. I suddenly found the taste so disgusting, I would have had to force myself to smoke another one
- Since then, I lighted four cigarettes in total and killed them off immediately after lighting them
- I don't have problems having heavy smokers around me. I will not harass them with stop smoking tirades
- I managed a night in my favourite cocktail bar without. A night in my favourite club without will be the next milestone
SOME OBSERVATIONS
- Definitely the best thing done in quite a while
- Things generally appear brighter: tasting and smelling again is a sensation worth the whole effort alone
- It gives you back an impressive amount of energy: you feel less tired, more focused and alert, so things can be accomplished better and faster. If you want to or have to play hardball, this is the time
- Rumors are true, you feel more hungry. No need to give in to this sentiment as long as you stay focused. Losing focus might also result in nervosity and aggressiveness
- Performing basic everyday tasks you used to smoke to feels quite funny in the beginning. Staying in public places you used to smoke in - like pubs, bars or restaurants - you first have the strange feeling of being naked. This settles quickly for the much better feeling of making it/having made it
- It will be interesting to see how long I will keep on running on this high enery level. I assume things will settle on a much higher level of energy, focus and alertness as they did while smoking. In the meantime, there are enough tasks to let the excess energy flow into
- I will make it
