If MT doesn't work, it isn't always MT what is to blame. Yesterday, my web hoster 1+1 delivered such a poor MySQL performance that it has been virtually impossible to complete any database operation. So a full blogging queue did not translate into a full blog. While 1+1 has been very reliable in the past, performance bottlenecks can now be frequently observed. What does 1+1 do about it? Like in any spring, it tweaks its hosting plans. This means:

• The admin interface mutates even further into an up- and cross-selling tool
• Performance increases only where it is at no costs, read: more webspace. This is risk-free as most users will not use more than a small percentage of their webspace
• Performance does not increase where it counts, read: no additional CPU time, no additional free traffic, no additional FTP accounts, and no improved MySQL performance
• Customer support is a toll free line, but most agents are too busy trying to involve you into up- and/or cross-selling to listen to your question

Stop writing "We just want better turnover per customer numbers" all over the place. Get those bottlenecks fixed and your performance improved instead. I guess that's an option marketing didn't tell you about.
