FACILITY: Pipeline bridges in the chemical plant, Zollverein Coke, Essen, Germany
This is one hell of a coke plant. In a sharp contrast to most other plants and mills, this one did not grow organically during its lifespan, but has been thoroughly planned on the drawing table as the largest plant of its kind from the very beginning. Ample space between the different parts would have allowed for controlled further growth. Today, it sits still and is largely unthreatened by demolition. Luckily, the chemical side of Zollverein Coke is not part of the Zollverein museum, so I don't have to break my "don't waste time on taking photos of museums" guideline :-)
