Sometimes when reading a paper or project description I am wondering why the author stresses "interdisciplinarity" so much. This is because I am wondering whether there are any reasonably interesting or reasonably advanced topics that are not interdisciplinary. So perhaps these words should trigger your bullshit alarm like the word "innovative" does: as a rule of thumb, "innovative" either means "we have no clue" or "it sucks". Similarly, the more emphasis on "interdisciplinarity", the more blather.
