"Ask Jeeves and the Mozilla Foundation have begun discussions on the twin possibilities of a Firefox-based Jeeves browser and of donating Jeeves' desktop search technology to the open-source group" while open sourcing Ask Jeeves' desktop search tool and its seach API. "The discussions come as relations between Mozilla and search king Google become cozier."
For now, just a ZDNet story with a not too high signal to noise ratio, no word from the Mozilla organization yet.

UPDATE
But there is word from Ask Jeeves. Instantly after posting this entry, Heiko pointed me to the Mozilla's On Fire story on the Ask Jeeves blog that is much more detailed than the ZDNet rewrite. Corporate communications as I like it. It is nice to see that Ask Jeeves is interested in XUL. XUL still hasn't taken off yet, and I would be happy if 2005 will be to XUL what 2004 was to Firefox - breakthrough, or at least a more widespread knowledge of the mere existence of this technology, with subsequent growing interest into it.
Comments are closed at the moment. I will post a blog entry as soon as they are available again.
