As a rule of thumb, if you want to get most out of digital photographs, you shoot in RAW format. If you shoot in JPG, you get lossy compression and fixed white balance, fixed exposure, fixed everything. In RAW, you can still change and fine-tune everything after the fact. With the camera I use most though, the Olympus WZ-8080, RAW sucks big time: when recording, when processing, and when it comes to image quality. In short, I have not been able to reproduce the high quality of a JPG-out-of-the-camera when hand-processing RAWs, no matter what software used. In fact, they are quite unusable as I even didn't come close. This runs contrary to my experiences with all other digital cameras so far. So if you want to get the most out of your WZ-8080, don't waste your time on RAW but shoot in highest-quality-JPG which delivers excellent results with great tonality.
